Treetop Restaurant and Bar

Location: 5-minute drive from Soufriere, towards Canaries.

Cuisine: Indian fusion, set menu, vegan and vegetarian options available.

The food, the view, the staff, the fact that it is an actual tree house. This place has it all. Overlooking the jungle and Pitons just outside of Soufriere, this colourful restaurant will provide an experience you’ll never forget. The restaurant is built amongst the trees, a real-life Robinson Crusoe masterpiece, with various wooden decks and flowing water running through the middle. Friendly staff greet and lead you to the highest deck so you can admire the view of the Pitons and sunset (if you arrive at this time). The lively barman serves tailored welcome cocktails going off ‘your vibe’ and Bob Marley sings in the background. The Indian inspired set menu is delicious and served beautifully. After dinner, you can sit peacefully back on the top deck and watch the stars as fireflies twinkle in the darkness.

JJ’s Mangrove Dockside

Location: East side of Marigot Bay, reached by car or the taxi boat serving the bay.

Cuisine: Caribbean, seafood.

Vibe: Casual, party.

Best for: Value.

This rustic looking colourful shack nestled between a mangrove forest and the tranquil waters of Marigot Bay is a slice of Caribbean charm. The locally caught Barracuda is a must try along with the cocktails. Certain nights of the week are dedicated to lobster or crab, depending on the season you visit. At night you’ll be drawn in by the flashing disco lights dancing across the water.

Jambe de Bois

Location: South side of Pigeon Island.

Cuisine: Light bites.

Vibe: Casual, café.

Best for: Casual lunch.

This laidback café is the perfect place to while away a few hours whilst you take in the beautiful turquoise water surrounding Pigeon Island and tuck into a slice of banana crumble.

Dasheene at the Ladera Resort

Location: 5-minute drive from Soufriere towards Vieux Fort.

Cuisine: Caribbean, seafood, American.

Vibe: Romantic.

If you’re looking for something a little special, the restaurant at the Ladera Resort is the one. Perched on a volcanic ridge in between the two Pitons, this restaurant has stunning views – perfect to watch the sun set over the sea. While the food here is somewhat average and pricey, the setting certainly makes up for it.

Location: At the top of the hill as you drive into Marigot Bay.

You may have seen this place on the Netflix show ‘Restaurants on the Edge’. It is run by couple Sue and Fluffy who provide a laid-back, home-cooked, local recipes experience. Try the signature vegetarian dish made up of soya cooked in their special homemade sauce, along with vegetables, noodles, rice and peas for an authentic Caribbean meal. It’s best to make a reservation 1-2 days before you plan to go as they buy ingredients on the day.

On Friday’s the town of L’Anse La Raye hosts a seafood party, where locals cook seafood based delicacies which are then enjoyed around communal tables on the seafront. The party stats at around 6.30pm.
